What began as a small operation on the OCMD boardwalk, selling bloody mary mixes has now become the premier one-stop-shop for 1000+ gourmet hot sauces, BBQ sauces, spices, rubs, and much much more.

 

Inspiration came from the wildly popular and now famous Peppers Tavern Bloody Mary. This mystical concoction of vodka and tomato juice and proprietary secret ingredients was selling by the hundreds during the summer season and Denny-O and Charlie Ritchie felt the need to make the mix available to the general public. They set out to establish an outlet that would not only supply bloody mary mix but also be a mega store for hot sauces, BBQ sauces, rubs, seasonings, jellies, and the like. In 2004, Pepper Shack opened its doors on the boardwalk at 16th street. Over time the need for heat outgrew its humble beginnings and being a firm believer in “bigger is better and hot is best”, Denny-O packed up his old blue truck full of sauce and moved the shop to a new 1200 sq. foot storefront.

 

Today located next to Peppers Tavern WEST on Rt. 611 in West Ocean City, MD, Pepper Shack stocks and carries 1000+ gourmet items ranging from hot sauces, BBQ sauces, rubs, seasonings, jellies, wing sauces, and much more.

Dennis “Denny-O” King was born on the mean streets of DC some point after the turn of the century, which one we are not sure... After a successful career as college athlete Denny-O moved down to the shore where “it all happened”. Known as “Hobo”, Denny-O was Ocean City’s Coin Op Master and a bartender of over (at the time 25 years), Denny found himself the owner of Peppers Tavern on 16th Street and the Boardwalk and Peppers Tavern West on Rt. 611 in West OC. Serving up authentic Mexican food, cold beers and excellent bloody mary’s, Denny-O quickly became well known as a catalyst for a great time. Whether he’s selling you hot sauce, talkin football, remembering the the old days (with Johnny-O and Big Rick….Ask him about it!!) Or helping you find a seat in one of the restaurants, Denny-O Is a friend to all and a true Ocean City icon.
